About the Qualification

This diploma, which incorporates the National Diploma in Journalism, produces graduates who are able to work in a bicultural environment as journalists or in other roles in the media. If you have an inquiring mind and an interest in current affairs, as well as a high level of literacy and a love of writing, there are many opportunities in the media for speakers of te reo Māori.

• Journalist in print, radio or magazine, film or TV writer,  corporate communications, public relations, media consultant, researcher
• Graduates have gone on to become sports production assistants at Sky Television; producers, directors, head of news; reporters with M¯ aori Television; reporters with The New Zealand Herald, Te Karere, Daily Post, Gisborne Herald.
