InternationalAmandeep Singh - Diploma in Computing Systems Level 5
He searched far and wide on the internet, trawled various websites and training institutes and found Waiariki to be one of the most prestigious institutes within New Zealand providing impeccable computing courses and qualifications. Amandeep applied and received admission into New Zealand to begin working on his career. “It was great experience at Waiariki”, says Amandeep, “and the teaching staff were really good, their way of teaching was very impressive.” “My most memorable moment with Waiariki was when I won the best IT student award.” “I have gained a lot of new IT related skills which will assist in developing my IT career, and now have the strength and courage to face any challenges that I may come across in achieving further goals.” The DCS opens up career opportunities in computer sales and maintenance, database design and administration, information systems development, multi-media, network support and administration, programming, systems analysis and design, project management, web applications and development, or web mastery. International students such as Amandeep Singh often choose to carry on working in New Zealand’s IT industry, which has many vacancies. ![]() IT literacyIT literacy is almost as important as being able to read and write in the computer-driven society we live in. Almost every job involves working some kind of electronic equipment, most people communicate using some sort of technical gadgetry or the internet, and people take their photographs these days using a mobile phone or a digital camera. So the School of Computing, Technology and Communications has launched an IT literacy campaign to ensure that every person in the Bay of Plenty area has a chance, to learn basic computing at no cost. Waiariki offers the National Certificate in Computing Level 2 and ICDL at no charge. These two qualifications teach students how to operate a computer, send emails, use the internet, do basic spreadsheets, use Excel and generally "be in the swim" of computing today. And they are FREE. Other educational institutions are encouraged to join in and lift the IT literacy level of the rohe as well. To enquire about doing one or both qualifications contact your local Waiariki campus or feel free to phone us on 07 346 8684 or 0800 924 274 or email CTC-Enquiries@waiariki.ac.nz You too can be IT literate..... |
